FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, PLEASE

Your Theatre, Inc. Finds New Home

New Bedford - We are pleased to announce that YTI has found a new home in St. Martin's Church Hall located at 136 Rivet St (corner of County St.) in New Bedford's South End. YTI will make the transition to its new venue during November and will present, as its' first offering at the new facility, The Christmas Quarter, an original children's play by Lawrence R. Houbre, Jr. on December 10, 11 and 12.

Lawrence R. Houbre, Jr., President of YTI's Board of Governors, says, "Our new home is everything we needed in a performance space: no pillars, 25-foot ceilings, controllable heating system, easy access, and plenty of on-site parking. Best of all for our patrons and members, parking is free." The new space offers many amenities for this 58-year old theatre company, not the least of which is location. Says Houbre, "We made a commitment to stay in New Bedford and are thrilled to be in residence at St. Martin's historic church hall and a part of the thriving Rivet/County St. Neighborhood."

At this point, YTI is working with St Martin's Vestry Committee to finalize the floor plan and building requirements. At the same time, an aggressive fund- raising drive is planned. YTI will be seeking funds from local foundations, patrons, and corporate sponsors to supplement the building funds in its treasury.

Since YTI was notified by the City Of New Bedford in April that it would have to vacate its playhouse at 71 Maxfield St effective November 20, it has conducted a vigorous search for a new performance space -- a space to be used over the next three or more years while the theatre company acquires and makes ready a permanent facility of its own.

Says Edward J. Maguire, YTI Artistic Director: "We're looking forward to continuing to bring the finest in community theatre to Greater New Bedford and the surrounding communities. This is what we do; this is what we are committed to doing. With 58 years of bringing area audiences high quality theatre, we are determined to go on bringing you more of the exciting, innovative and entertaining theatre you have come to expect. In fact, we are determined to grow in both quality and variety of programs."
