NEW BEDFORD, MA - - - Spearheading an effort to highlight business support of SouthCoast arts, The Medicine Shoppe, a Pharmahealth Company, has become a corporate sponsor of Your Theatre, Inc.
Announcing his firm’s sponsorship, Registered Pharmacist and Owner Richard P. Brisson said, “Your Theatre’s use of local area actors, directors, technicians, and staff was an important factor in the drama group’s selection.”
He also praised the company for encouraging artistic talent through workshops and other dramatic training opportunities in addition to theatre productions.
The Medicine Shoppe operates pharmacies at 458 Dartmouth Street and 2206 Acushnet Avenue in New Bedford.
Besides supplying prescription medication, pain management, and over-the-counter medical products, the stores feature compounding specialties, hormone replacement therapies, and veterinary treatment services.
For its 2005-2006 59th season, Your Theatre, Inc. will produce five plays. They include: David Auburn’s Tony Award-winner Proof, Sept. 14-24, and Mixed Couples by James Prideaux, Nov. 9-19.
Also: Martin McDonagh’s Tony Award winner The Beauty Queen of Leenane, January 18-28, 2006; Ivan Menchell’s The Cemetery Club, March 15-25; and Oscar Wilde’s farcical comedy of manners The Importance of Being Earnest, May 10-20.
Your Theatre was rated the favorite 2005 community theatre organization in Southeastern Massachusetts in a poll conducted by The New Bedford Standard-Times. The poll, which asked the newspaper’s reader’s to choose their preferred businesses and service providers in a variety of categories, drew more than 4,000 responses.
Founded in 1946, YTI is incorporated as a non-profit community theatre which seeks to enhance the cultural life of New Bedford, Southeastern Massachusetts, and nearby communities through the study and regular presentation of dramatic productions and other programs of high quality and professional standards.
