DARTMOUTH YOUTH WINS YTI’S

M. A. SMITH SCHOLARSHIP

 

NEW BEDFORD, MA - - - A 2007 Dartmouth High School graduate has won the Mary A. Smith Memorial Scholarship offered by Your Theatre, Inc., which Ms Smith founded in 1946.

 

        Katherine Dimery, 18, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Dimery, will attend Marymount Manhattan College in New York City, in the fall, as a theatre major pursing a BFA in Acting.

 

      “I am very excited about receiving the Mary A Smith Scholarship and truly grateful to Your Theatre for supporting my goal of pursuing a career in the performing arts.”Katherine said when the award was announced by Lucy Bly, scholarship committee chairperson.

 

       In addition to the Your Theatre award, Katherine has won scholarships from the Dartmouth High School Alumni Association and the College Club. She also received an academic scholarship from Marymount Manhattan College. While a student at DHS Ms. Dimery was an active participant in the Drama Club, Musical Theatre Company, Student Government and AFS. Katherine also studied and performed with the New Bedford Ballet and the New Bedford Festival Theatre

 

 

         Now completing its 60^th season, YTI is incorporated as a non-profit community theatre which seeks to enhance the cultural life of New Bedford, Southeastern Massachusetts, and nearby communities through the study and regular presentation of dramatic productions and other programs of high quality and professional standards
