YOUR THEATRE ANNOUNCES

THEATRE LIGHTING WORKSHOP

NEW BEDFORD, MA --- Your Theatre, Inc. is offering a Theatrical Stage Lighting Workshop conducted by YTI Lighting Designer, Lawrence R. Houbre, Jr. The workshop begins at 7:00 pm Thursday December 27 at the YTI Playhouse located at 136 Rivet St. in New Bedford.

The two hour sessions will continue for three consecutive Thursday culminating with the production of Enchanted April, YTI’s 3rd major production of it’s 61st season, to be presented January 16 – 26. The workshop is limited to four participants and is free and open to the public. Additional workshops will be conducted in conjunction with upcoming YTI  productions throughout the theatre’s 61st season.

According to Mr. Houbre, Jr., this workshop will take a broad look at Theatrical Stage Lighting and how it is used to enhance performance.  Attendees will receive a good grounding in the purpose of stage lighting; the features, use and rigging of various lighting instruments; the plotting, hanging and focusing of instruments and the operation of the lighting control consoles. All participants will have the opportunity to apply the skills and techniques learned during the workshop by actually setting up and running the YTI production of Enchanted April. Mr. Houbre went on to say “Attendees that complete the workshop should have a good basic knowledge of Theatrical Stage Lighting and how to apply it.”

In The SouthCoast, besides Your Theatre, Houbre has designed lights for dance recitals and stage productions at UMD, All Children’s Theatre in RI, and various other performance and theatre productions. He began his training in lighting technology at YTI in 1974 and then with UM Dartmouth in 1977. He also attended and received a certificate  from Broadway Lighting Master Class in NYC.

For further information or to register for the workshop telephone the theatre at 508-993-0772 or e-mail ytinc@verizon.net
