Musical Auditions for The Fantasticks

NEW BEDFORD, MA -- YTI AUDITION Notice

Your Theatre will be holding a musical audition on Tuesday, May 11th and Wednesday May 12th at 7:30 PM for it’s January 2011 production of 'The Fantasticks'. This is a musical audition and those attending are encouraged to prepare 32 measures of either a prepared ballad or uptune (does not have to be a show tune) and the sheet music for the accompanist if possible.

There will be some music available at the audition for those who may not have their own. Auditions for speaking roles will be conducted at a later date and anyone wishing to audition for a vocal and speaking role must attend the musical audition.

Cast:

THE ACTOR (Henry) An aging, over-the-top thespian Non-singing

THE BOY (Matt) An innocent young man Baritone/Tenor: A - High G

THE BOY'S FATHER (Hucklebee) Former navy man, meticulous gardener Baritone: A - High F sharp

THE GIRL (Luisa) A romantic idealist Soprano: B - High B

THE GIRL'S FATHER (Bellomy) A merchant, also a picky gardener Baritone: A - High F sharp

THE MAN WHO DIES (Mortimer) Henry's goofy sidekick Non-singing

THE MUTE A speechless presence who watches, acts as the wall, and so on. Male or female. Non-singing

THE NARRATOR (El Gallo) A rakish, handsome gallant Baritone: A flat - High G
